Sketch Challenge & Winner!

To start, let me apologize for taking so long to get the next sketch posted and to announce the winner of our last sketch challenge! It's been a busy few weeks.... :-) So...without further delay, I'd like to announce that Tabatha has won a free page kit, compliments of Wholly Scrap! for submitting a design. Tabatha, please contact me at ksdm@comcast.net to claim your prize! Congrats! You can see Tabatha's winning layout here on her blog.

Next, I want to share a darling 12x12 page created by Donna-Marie, showcasing some delightful water-themed paper that we recently received in the store.
This sweet blue and green page is quick and easy to put together and not only do we carry all of the supplies needed to create this sweet page but you can purchase a kit for only $6.99 with all of the ingredients packaged for you and ready to go! We have limited supplies so get yours before they're gone!

And last but not least...let's have another sketch challenge, based on Donna Marie's page...Here it is!

Someone asked me if they needed to create the exact same page for the challenges. For example, if our sample included three brads in the lower right, do they have to use brads. The answer is no, you could use any small object, such as eyelets, flowers, etc. You'd would just want there to be three of them in the same location as the brads on today's sample. That make sense?

Everyone enjoy this week's page and challenge! You have until next Sunday (7/4) at midnight to submit a layout. You can submit by leaving us a comment with a link back to your blog, Facebook, or online gallery or send me (Kim) an email at ksdm@comcast.net with a photo attachment.

Have a lovely weekend!

An Album for the Men in Your Life

Wishing everyone a very Happy Father's Day (a day late...)! Recently, we put together some wonderful kits that are currently for sale (and this week the entire store is marked down 25%!) and I today I wanted to share photos of our male-inspired album, which was designed by our own resident artist, Donna Marie.

I created one of these albums for my husband and filled it with lots of silly photos of our two boys. Because all of the supplies have been hand-picked for each kit, it took me just over an hour to finish the entire album. How fabulous is that??!!

Page one - See those three cute buttons? It's printed on a piece of cardstock that you only have to punch out and attach with glue! It doesn't get much easier than that! The kit also contains an entire package of black/brown brads. (Lots left over for other projects!)

Page 2-3 also contains a few strips of decorate paper that is part of a 12x12 die cut page. The kit also comes with a package of rhinestones and a package of these darling kraft luggage tags.

Pages 4-5 showcasing some of the beautiful patterns on the Graphic 45 paper that is the foundation of all of the pages.

Pages 6-7 - Love how Donna Marie added brads to the pre-printed "dashing" tag, giving it that little something extra. And these wonderful vintage art pieces are cut from a single piece of 12x12 designer paper.

Pages 8-9 - Confession time...I've never know what to do with the packages of felt that we sell. Now I know! Aren't those self-stick felt strips an amazing addition to these pages? Love it!

Pages 10-11 - Another page showcasing those lovely luggage tags and a great vintage car. My youngest loves the picture of that car...I think it was his favorite part of the album!

Pages 12-13 - How about this beautiful saying about Fathers? This is a rub on that comes from an entire package of Dad-inspired rub ons that is also included with the kit.

Pages 14-15 - Don't these pages remind you of a well tailored pin stripe suit? Truly debonair!

Pages 16-17 - Notice how Donna Marie added big 'ol rhinestones to these two pages. The rhinestone color is the perfect match for a manly album, without bringing in too much girly bling! :-)

Pages 18-19 - Love the black and cream color and pattern of these pages. Stunning when paired with the dark green.

Page 20 - This is a lovely combination of those dark, rich colors and patterns along with the amber shade of rhinestones. Fabulous!

We have just a few kits available for puchase so, if interested, please stop by the store today and get your kit before they're gone!!

Enjoy!

Creating Paper Flowers

Think that rubber stamps are only for card making? Hardly!! Check out this amazing project created by Donna Marie!

For those of you who don't know...Donna Marie is a designer for Outline Stamps; her work will appear in their catalogs...and I'm sure on national TV soon as her creations are soo amazing!! This darling project is one of the samples she created for a new line of stamps.

She used the stamps, named Mandalas, black ink and different colors of card stock to create each flower and then layered the flower sections, and added dimension, by using foam tape. She has a number of different versions on her blog, which you can see here.

Wouldn't these flowers by perfect for bouquets, gifts, garden accents, flower pots, or...The possibilities are endless!!

Interested in making these yourself? Then sign up for Donna-Marie's class on Saturday, June 26 at 1:00 pm and she'll walk you through the process of making these beautiful flowers!! Just call, email, or visit the store to sign up!

Stay tuned for news of the sketch challenge winner and details on our next sketch...

Upcoming Class Project - Using Flower Soft

Tonight I'm sharing a card that we're going to make at our next monthly PMS night...(that would be Pizza, Music, & Stamping)...I hope you can join us!

Each month, during the PMS class and after we've finished our pizza dinner, I demonstrate three techniques. This month it will be dry embossing, creating a faux wood frame and Flower Soft bouquet.

I have to admit that although I've seen Flower Soft demonstrated at a crafting trade show, I've never used it myself. However, after creating this fun little bouquet, I was hooked! What a great way to add some serious dimension and color to a card! I also used some of our new American Crafts ribbon in the center...isn't that color and texture divine? Love their products!

Our class is on Friday, June 11 and dinner starts at 6pm, with the class beginning around 6:30pm. We finish up around 9pm and I keep the store open late so you can shop after class...if the mood strikes! If you plan to attend the class and haven't signed up yet, please contact the store no later than Wed., June 9 so that adequate supplies can be prepared.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone!
