Altered Canvas

Did you know that you can take an ordinary wrapped canvas and totally transform it (without a brush and inks!) That's what a group of us did last week during our Christmas in July celebration....and we had a lot of fun in the process! :-)

These are standard 4" x 4" plain canvas that we covered with dictionary paper. Distress Inks were used to age the entire piece and then we got down to the business of decorations.
On the top canvas we used grungeboard paper to cut out the flower shape, using one of the new Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies. The letters are grungeboard letters, also from Tim's collection. All you need is Distress Ink, a blending tool, and some stamps to finish the piece.
The Christmas tree canvas was created by cutting out a tree shape out of grungepaper, using a Spellbinders die. The dictionary paper was used to cover the tree and ink rubbed over the tree makes the shape pop. The final touches on this piece were this lovely metal plate and more grungeboard. Fun stuff!!

These supplies, including the canvas, can be found at Wholly Scrap!

Chipboard Album

I've been meaning to post the photos of this sweet friends album for awhile now! This adorable album is available as a kit from the store...although supplies are very limited.

Let's get on with the show!
This is the first page you'll see when you open the album, complete with painted chipboard flowers and lots of ribbon tabs and joyful colors.

Pages 2 & 3 - This would be a perfect album to hold pictures from a girlfriend's getaway weekend! Could someone book one of those for me??

Pages 4 & 5 - More of those sweet painted chipboard flowers...Bottles of paint daubers come in the kit!

Pages 6 & 7 - Love, love, love the acrylic polka dot page!

Pages 9 & 10 - The kit also comes with a complete sheet of best friend-inspired stickers.

Pages 11 & 12 - Ohh look, another see-through page! So much fun!

Pages 13 & 14 - Ribbon is also included...

Last page - How great is it to have an envelope be on the back cover? Great spot to hold theater tickets, subway tokens, or other souvenirs from your outing!

This is such a fun album; easy to make and easy to duplicate with your own album and embellishments. If you're not able to get this kit, pick up some other supplies and use these photos as inspiration! And be sure to share with us whatever you make, we love to see your creations!!

Ink, Spray, Smash - Technique Class

How is that for the name of a fancy stamping technique? Isn't it fun! This is one of the techniques that I'll be teaching at a Wholly Scrap! class next week. And I'm excited to report that we'll be using and selling a Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set! That's right, for some of our classes we'll be offering customers the option to purchase the stamp set we'll be using to create our cards! The stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy are high quality acrylic that produce perfectly stamped images. I'm looking forward to introducing them to our students!

The Ink, Spray, Smash technique is a way to create your own custom designer paper in three easy steps. I like the way my background looks like a sunset, which is the perfect backdrop for this lovely silhouettes image.

Want to learn more about this technique, as well as two others? Then join us at Wholly Scrap! on Friday, July 9 from 6-9pm for our monthly PMS Class (Pizza, Music, & Stamping). Contact the store, via email or phone 603-964-8596, to register for the class!

Looking forward to seeing you!
